Free GPS System Upon Moving to Oregon

Oregon Proposes to install GPS devices on every car. Higher gas prices = less driving which means less tax money for road improvements. They want to track how many miles you drive and tax you accordingly... Uh, does the ACLU know about this? GOOD LUCK! What's next, a pedometer so they can tax us on the number of steps we take? Oooohhh... This is America so their best bet would be to tax how many calories we consume. Talk about a windfall!

Part of the cost of gas is there to pay for the roads. The idea being that only those who pay for fuel would be the ones using the roads. So, this GPS thing seems redundant.

The cost of GPS systems are going down tremendously, so the cost per person would be tolerable. The thinking behind it is extremely flawed though, and a waste of government resources. Who were the brain squishers behind that idea?

I don't think it will ever come to fruition because of our right to privacy. I believe the ACLU will fight this tooth and nail... The pedometer and caloric intake references were to outline how ridiculous the idea is in the first place... LOL
